Kenneth Huddle, MD, University of Witwatersrand, South Africa

Kenneth Huddle is Professor and Head of the Department of Medicine at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital and the University of the Witwatersrand. As Director of the Diabetes Services at this hospital(the largest hospital in the world), he has devoted more than 25 years to the establishment of comprehensive diabetes services for diabetic patients from Soweto, a large sprawling township on the outskirts of Johannesburg inhabited by several million black Africans, most of whom are poor and unemployed. He has published a number of audits which reflect the positive impact of this intervention on the lives of these patients.
